Life in the wild is an interactive sound
installation, and was created by the 1997 Advanced MIDI
class of Stetson university's Institute for the digital arts. The
work was featured as part of the "Portrayals of Nature's
Wildlife" exhibition at the DeLand cultural arts center. As
visitors walked through the space, their movements were
tracked by sensors and processed by computers to generate
music derived from environmental sounds. The installation
involved a computer network, sensors, motion detectors,
video, and a 21-channel sound system.
