Interactive arts programming will
investigate the use of sensor technology for interactive
performance and installation. We will be the first class
to exploit some of the newest gear soon to be available
at the iEAR studios: the I-CubeX sensor/MIDI controller.
Class meetings will center on an advanced study of the
MAX graphical programming language, using the new MSP
digital signal processing objects for sound synthesis,
physical modeling, signal processing, sampling, looping
and general chaos.
We will discuss the design of
performance/installation interfaces using the "Mega-Max"
toolkit and the new I-CubeX sensor / controller. Also
available to students will be the advanced research topic
of building custom physical interfaces using the Basic
Stamp II single board computer and off-the-shelf
sensors.
