Detect chills, jolts, jitters, jerks, shivers, shudders, shakes, quivers, quakes, trembles, tremors and many more vibes, vibrations and oscillations. When using for low frequency vibrations such as occurring in human motion, the sensor outputs either a low-pass filtered signal to indicate the average level of low frequency vibrations, or a high-pass filtered signal so as to detect single sudden motion spikes too.

Application examples

  1. Attach to fabric and detect something hitting it like a spider senses that a prey got caught in its web.
  2. Attach to your wrist and use as tremor measurement device.
  3. Use as a detection device for chills and assess fear.
  4. Attach to moving objects or body parts and find out what's shakin'.

Software support

  1. Our SensePlay software is a very easy way to quickly map sensor data to (sequences of) sounds, images and videos using a drag & drop user interface.
  2. Our EditorX software allows you to configure the digitizer to process and map the sensor data of multiple sensors simultaneously.
  3. Our Link software allows you to receive the sensor data from the digitizer and use your computer to view, calibrate, record, process and map the sensor data of multiple sensors simultaneously.
  4. Our SensorX software allows you to receive the sensor data from the digitizer and use your computer to view, calibrate, record, process and map the data of a single sensor.

Application notes
  1. Use the dip switch to change the cutoff frequency of the low-pass filter. High (15.9 Hz): dip switch is set towards cable, away from the piezo element (default). Low (0.157Hz): dip switch is set away from cable, towards the piezo element.
  2. To increase responsiveness, add a mass (eg a small hex-nut) to the end using a small wire or twist tie.
