GForce3D-6 v2.0 (obsolete)

Senses dynamic acceleration (or deceleration) and inclination (tilt, ie. acceleration due to gravitation) in three dimensions simultaneously. A visually exciting sensor. Can be held in the palm of your hand. Measures upto 1.5 or 6 G.

Similar sensors are:

  • GForce2D-2 (2 G in 2D)
  • GForce3D-35 (35 G in 3D, but cannot measure tilt, ie. acceleration due to gravitation)

Application information

Product GForce3D-6 sensor
Examples
  1. Use for hand motion and jolt, jerk or impact detection as well as balance measurement.
  2. Attach these to Whirling Dervishes, kinetic sculptures or Fido as he chases the neighborhood cat. Add an Orient3D to keep track of its orientation.
  3. For whole-body expression, go bodysuit and capture all your joints' movements with BendMicro, BendMini and BendShort sensors. A GForce3D-6 and an Orient3D on each of your feet and hands captures kicks and punches - express with all your extremities. Add a couple of BioFlex sensors to capture your muscle power and give you that 6-million dollar feeling. A Hot will keep you in check of your body temp. Top it all off with a TouchGlove on both hands to always be able to touch-control your performance.
  4. See how accelerometers were used in dance performance for Tres a la Vez (incl. software).
  5. Attach to moving objects and measure their motion dynamics.
  6. Allow your robot or toy car to know what forces it's being subjected to. Combine with Orient3D, and ReachClose to detect approaches to and/or impacts with walls and what have you.
  7. A wireless Wi-microSystem is recommended in all cases to operate without tether.
Manuals Using the sensor with the Wi-microSystem enables you to use the sensor without being tethered to your computer or MIDI device.
Software

  1. 8 Nov 2011: GForce3D-6 v1.0 for MacOS and Windows from source code in Max.
