This cable kit can be used to connect actuators such as the SwitchPower to a Digitizer. It can also be used to connect a digital (I2C) sensor with a 2x4 plug to a USB-microDig running v7.3 or newer, which requires a 1x4 plug. Or use this kit to connect a digital (I2C) sensor with a 1x4 plug to a Wi-microDig running firmware v6.3 or older or a USB-microDig running v7.2 or older, which requires a 2x4 plug.

Technical specifications

Product AdaptCableKit
Version 1.1 (July 2021)
Cable 0.20 m (7.9 inch), unshielded
Weight 5 g (0.2 oz)
Connectors 1 2x4 housing, 2 1x4 housings, 5 wires each with a pin and a receptacle both in 1x1 housings, all spaced 2.54 mm (0.100 inch)
Application information
  • Twist or braid the wires to minimize noise and RF interference.
  • Remove the housings from the pin of the wire as needed to be able to insert it in a 1x4 or 2x4 housing. To do so take the pin out of the housing slot after slightly lifting the plastic lever with a pointy or sharp object and then push the pin in the other housing slot such that the lever clicks into place and the pin can't be pushed out.
  • Use one of the two heatshrink sections to secure the connectors together. Slide the heatshrink section over the female connector of the extension cable. Plug the male connector of the sensor into the female connector of the extension cable. Apply heat evenly to the heatshrink using a heatgun (a hairdryer will also work) to shrink the heatshrink section so that it tightly covers the two connectors (also see the picture on this page). The second heatshrink section is a spare for future use.
