Cut through it all with this powerful, red, wide laser beam. Includes USB-PowerHack adapter for use with USB power supply. If you want to supply power from a digitizer note that it consumes 140 mA so only one can be used per USB-microDig or 2 per WiDig.

Application examples

  1. Use as trigger/control beam together with a ReachCloseD sensor and a Flash sensor like in this Laserharp example.
  2. Make a multi-color laser harp like BulBul did.
  3. Create a virtual cage for dancers. Or detect intruder, visitor, dog, cat, mouse .... movements.
  4. Make every move count and add a TapTiled floor, some MoveOn and/or ReachClose sensors. You might need to rethink your choreography.

  1. Our EditorX software allows you to configure the digitizer to control multiple actuators simultaneously with on/off as well as PWM signals.
  2. Our Link software allows you to multiple actuators simultaneously with on/off signals.
Application notes
  1. Make sure the actuator is plugged into the digitizer with the red wire connected to power. Reversing the plug or applying power with reverse polarity may cause damage to the actuator.
  2. The actuator housing should be isolated from the electrical ground, ie. when mounting the actuator the safest is to mount it on something that is not electrically conductive.
  3. Can be powered directly by the 5V power of any digitizer but given the actuators high current consumption, use only one per USB-microdig or 2 per WiDig ! If you need to power more lasers than the digitizer can provide power for, connect them to a separate 5V power supply via USB-PowerCables.
  4. If you want to control it with one of the USB-microDig or WiDig actuator outputs (top row of the connector for sensors and actuators), it needs to be connected via a Switch, SwitchPower, Drive-FR120N or similar device that can be controlled with an actuator output.
  5. To connect the power pin of the actuator plug to the screw terminal of the Switch (or similar device) and the ground pin of the actuator plug to the ground of the separate power supply use eg. the wires and a 1x4 housing of an AdaptCableKit. The female receptacle end of the AdaptCableKit wires is compatible with the actuator plug pins. Use the 1x4 housing of the AdaptCableKit to create a female plug with receptacles in the positions of the ground and power pins of the actuator plug. Connect the male end of the ground wire of the actuator plug to the ground of the separate power supply, eg. using a separate single screw terminal. Insert and fasten the male end of the power wire of the actuator plug in the screw terminal of the Switch. Connect the other screw terminal of the Switch to the positive voltage of the separate power supply.
  6. The beam can not be seen in an unlit ("blackened") room without extra dust particles in the air such as haze or smoke. The more dust particles that are in the air, the better the beam will be visible. For best visibility of the beam it is necessary to hide the stray light it emits by placing it in a tube as well as shining the beam into a tube at at the receiving end where a sensor such as the Flash or FlashOn could be placed to detect beam interruption.
  7. Without heatsink to cool the laser it may turn itself off after 4 - 8 hrs to prevent from overheating.
  8. Caution ! Never point the beam at the eye, stare into the beam nor look at the beam through a microscope or other lenses. Inform yourself about laser safety.
