>> WiDig || Application info || Technical specs || USB driver download

The I-CubeX WiDig enables you to interface sensors and actuators to your computer, wirelessly via Bluetooth or WiFi, or wired via USB. It is designed to obtain data from a wide variety of sensors for measurement and analysis and/or for the control of audiovisual effects and multimedia content, while it can also control devices such as LEDs, relays, small motors, servos, etc.

With the I-CubeX WiDig, translate sensor signals into MIDI messages or control actuators with MIDI messages, once configured with our software. MIDI is transmitted either through a wireless Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connection and its associated virtual MIDI port (at 31.25 kb/s and 19 ms latency), or through a USB cable and its associated virtual serial (COM) port (at 115.2 kb/s and 6 ms latency). The WiDig is also capable of wireless communication via WiFi using Websockets and OSC messages. The WiFi capability requires uploading another version of WiConnect to the WiDig. When you order the WiDig and you'd like it to be configured for WiFi, let us know, eg. in the order comments.

Then, send the MIDI messages to data analysis/display programs, map them to virtual controllers for use in other software, or, either using the default MIDI encoding or re-mapped as OSC messages using our software, send them to a variety of 3rd party hardware or software devices that perform sound synthesis, graphical animation, video effects, etc.. If using the WiFi capability, send OSC messages directly to 3rd party hardware or software.

What you get

The I-CubeX WiSystem includes a WiDig analog to digital encoder with wireless Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and WiFi transmitter, a USB microB to USB A and USB microB to USB C cables and a USB-Battery. A free Turn sensor and SeeRed, SeeGreen, SeeYellow, SeeBlue or SeeWhite actuator are also included for demo and test purposes. LiveSupport-1 is included in case you need live help to get started. A variety of software is available from our website to apply the WiSystem in your project - please check the WiDig page, browse our resource page for more solutions, view the video playlist below and get started with I-CubeX !

Please note

  • The WiDig is by default configured for BLE. When you order the WiSystem and you'd like the WiDig to be configured for WiFi, let us know, eg. in the order comments.
  • To use the WiDig via WiFi, you will need a WiFi network.
  • To configure and use the WiDig wirelessly via BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy v4.0 or higher), you will need a USB-Battery and a BLE interface for your computer that supports the BLE-MIDI protocol. We recommend using the WIDIBud. It automatically connects to the WiDig and appears as a MIDI port in the operating system, stays reliably connected and enables bi-directional communication on both Windows and MacOS so that the WiDig can easily be used with our software. Any other BLE interface (such as the built-in Bluetooth interface of Apple devices) or adapter should also work, together with additional software to map the BLE data to a MIDI port (see the WiDig support pages).
  • If you want to use the WiDig as a wireless controller for a MIDI device with DIN plugs, we recommend the Yamaha MD-BT01 wireless BLE-MIDI interface.
  • To configure the WiDig via USB, you will need a free USB port on your computer.
  • To connect an actuator to an input/output slot while the slot is also needed for a sensor, get an AuxCable.
  • Want to use the power grid instead of a USB-Battery ? Use the USB-GlobalAdapter.
  • If you don't need wireless connectivity, check out the USB-microSystem, which, together with the USB-microMIDICable can also send MIDI messages directly to your MIDI gear. To capture more of the real world check out these sensors !
