This sensor will show you the mysteries of magnetism. Measures up to 8 Gauss (1 Gauss is 0.0001 Tesla, and if measuring in air, it is 1 Oersted) in three orthogonal directions. Comes with one those super strong neodymium magnets. A digital I2C sensor, that outputs high resolution, low-noise signals.

Examples
  1. Measure proximity of magnetic objects (or objects with a magnet attached).
  2. Measure RPM by attaching a magnet to the wheel.
  3. Count how many magnetic objects pass by the sensor.
  4. Attach to doors and detect when they are (almost) closed.
  5. Measure the strength of the earth's magnetic field.
  6. Combine it with a GForce3D, and make your own tilt-compensated compass, like the Orient3D (some math skills required !).
Manuals Using the sensor with the WiSystem enables you to use the sensor without being tethered to your computer or MIDI device.
  1. Make sure the sensor is plugged into the digitizer with the red wire connected to power. Reversing the plug may cause damage to the sensor.
  2. Requires a digitizer with digital (I2C) ports, eg. the WiDig, USB-microDig or Wi-microDig.
  3. The default I2C address is 30 (0x1E). Both I2C lines have 4.7 kOhm pull-up resistors.
  4. Our software enables you to use most features of this sensor. In EditorX, use the method parameter to set the sensor to output (method #0, 10, 20, 30, etc) the magnetic field strength for each of the 3 axes, or to output (method #1..9, 11..19, 21..29, 31..39, etc) the magnitude for the 3 axes combined where the method number scales the magnitude and if the method number is 2, 12, 22, 32, etc the full polar coordinate system values (ie. not only the magnitude but also the two angles) are output. This scaling only applies when operating in standalone mode. In host mode there is no scaling and the values are output as floats with 12-bit resolution.

  7. Any magnetic materials or fields in the vicinity of the sensor may distort the sensor output.
  8. The earth's magnetic field has to be taken into account when measuring the field strength of magnets, since the strength of the earth's magnetic field at the earth's surface ranges from less than 30 microTeslas (0.3 gauss) in an area including most of South America and South Africa to over 60 microteslas (0.6 gauss) around the magnetic poles in northern Canada and south of Australia, and in part of Siberia.
  9. To extend the cable, use ExtendCableD-01 and/or ExtendCableD-10.
  10. The sensor comes fitted with a 1x4 plug for use with a WiDig or a USB-microDig running firmware v7.51 or higher or firmware v7.33 but includes an extra 1x4 housing to modify the plug for use with a Wi-microDig running firmware v6.33. There's also the AdaptCableDto2D and the AdaptCableKit. Or get the Magnetic3D v1.0, which is made with a 2x4 plug.
Software Our EditorX software allows you to configure the digitizer to process and map the sensor data of multiple sensors simultaneously.

For multiple sensors or sensor outputs, run multiple instances of the application, each started in its own folder. Requires a digitizer with firmware v7.5, v7.3, v7.2, v6.3 or v6.2.
