EditorX (MacOS/Windows)

With EditorX, configure your digitizer's standalone mode settings. To configure your digitizer in host mode, use Link or SensePlay. Upload new firmware most conveniently with Connect or alternatively with FirmwareX.

Releases

15 Dec 2023: EditorX v8.30 for MacOS or Windows. For WiDigs with firmware 8.3 and USB-microDigs with firmware v7.8.

24 Jan 2020: EditorX v8.11 for MacOS or Windows. For WiDigs with firmware 8.1, USB-microDigs with firmware v7.6 or v7.4, Wi-microDigs with firmware v6.4 and microDigs with firmware v5.4.

Please note that the posted zip file of a released version may be replaced by a newer file without notice, ie. without the newer file being tagged as a new version. If you encounter any issues with the software, please check back here to see if a newer file (ie. same version but dated more recently) than the one you are using is available.

Check the download archive page for older releases. Not the right solution ? We have more software.

Installation and user manuals, tutorials and tips

  • Please read the EditorX reference documentation, or click the question marks in EditorX (the same documentation will open in a window).
  • If you're using a computer with Apple's M1 processor, you'll need to run EditorX (v8.1 and lower) under Rosetta as follows: click the EditorX icon in the Finder, click the File menu in the Finder and choose the option "Get Info", then in the "Get Info" window, tick the checkbox next to "Open using Rosetta" and finally close the "Get Info" window.
  • On Windows, it is necessary that Connect has created virtual MIDI ports for the connected digitizers BEFORE starting EditorX. Also, note that Connect needs the LoopMIDI virtual MIDI port software.
  • Connect to a digitizer by selecting (in the Digitizer section) the port name that matches your digitizer or the MIDI interface that the digitizer is connected to.
  • The Bluetooth pairing code is "0" for Wi-microDigs running Firmware 6.40 or higher and "1" otherwise. On recent MacOS versions no pairing code is needed, but on Windows it is still required to complete the connection.
  • Firmware can be uploaded most conveniently with Connect for MacOS. On Windows use FirmwareX.
  • All settings are uploaded immediately, ie. as they are changed in EditorX, to the digitizer. There is no need to upload sensor input settings, input-output mapping settings or actuator output settings to a digitizer by clicking the "Store" button, unless the digitizer is changed during an EditorX session. To download settings from a digitizer, click the "Update" button in the Settings section. When loading settings from a file, the settings are uploaded immediately to the digitizer. If settings include input-output mappings be aware that using the same output for (some of) these mappings or if the digitizer was already configured to map to that output, erratic behaviour of the actuator outputs will result.
  • The preset loading time variable (by default set to 2000 ms) may need to be set higher in order for the settings stored in the preset file to load correctly into EditorX.

Features

  • Use EditorX to configure your digitizer's sensor inputs and actuator outputs.
  • Save / load settings of one (virtual) sensor input.
  • Save / load all EditorX settings.
  • OSC output support, allowing output of sensor data as OSC messages.
  • OSC / MIDI input support, allowing control of actuator outputs.

Recently added:

  • Support for Apple silicon (M1 or newer).
  • Ghost mode inputs (use shift-click): use adjacent higher-numbered inputs to process the same sensor data but map differently.
  • Skip (don't process nor output) specific ranges of sensor values using lookup tables.
  • Map to 14-bit MIDI Control Change messages.
  • Solo mode: select one (virtual) sensor input for MIDI output.
  • Enable/disable WiFi or BLE (for WiDig) or MIDICable (for USB-microDig) capability.

Known issues

Please notify us if you encounter a bug or issue.

  • If your digitizer's identifying numbers are incorrectly stored in the digitizer, the software may show unexpected behaviour. The label numbers are shown on the bottom of the digitizer. Use ResetDig to restore these numbers as per the label (except for the firmware number if it was updated).
  • Re-enabling a digitizer in Connect, or re-plugging a MIDI interface while EditorX is running may result in duplicate entries in the digitizer selection menu and failure to connect to either. A restart of EditorX resolves this.
  • The user interface may not be updated correctly to reflect the current digitizer status. Re-select the UI widget to realize the update.
  • Loading a saved configuration from disk may not succeed in loading all the saved settings. Trying again may resolve the issue.
