What's your angle ? Capture the rotational angle of an object relative to this sensor. Comes with one those super strong neodymium magnets. A digital I2C sensor, that outputs high resolution, low-noise, calibrated signals. See the Angle sensor for an analog, mechanically coupled version.

Requires a WiDig running firmware v8.11 or higher, or USB-microDig running firmware v7.61 or higher.

Application examples

  • Measure the rotation angle of an object without physical contact.
  • Count the number of times an object has turned.
  • Detect when an object has rotated 360 degrees and trigger a sound. See Laboratory Media Education's Verse Converse installation.

Application information

Product AngleD sensor
  • Measure the rotational angle of an object (with a magnet attached) relative to the sensor.
  1. Make sure the sensor is plugged into the digitizer with the red wire connected to power. Reversing the plug may cause damage to the sensor.
  2. Requires a digitizer with digital (I2C) ports, eg. the USB-microDig or the Wi-microDig.
  3. The default I2C address is 54 (0x36). Both I2C lines have 4.7 kOhm pull-up resistors.
  4. Our software enables you to use most features of this sensor. In EditorX, use the method parameter to set the sensor to output (any method #) the angle.
  5. The included magnet needs to be placed perpendicularly, in a plane parallel to the sensor (above or below, see picture below), with the center of the ring in the center of the sensor. Now when you rotate the sensor, the value should go from 0 to 4095.
  6. See the AngleD function description in the firmware documentation for more details about the various methods available in host and standalone mode.
  7. For more technical specs, and to find out how to access the sensor data in detail, please consult this datasheet.
  8. Any magnetic materials or fields in the vicinity of the sensor may distort the sensor output.
  9. To extend the cable, use ExtendCableD-01 and/or ExtendCableD-10.
  • Our EditorX software allows you to configure the digitizer to process and map the sensor data of multiple sensors simultaneously.
