Measures rapid light changes or light flashes. Like the Flash sensor it measures the illuminance level in a similar field of view. In addition to the Flash sensor it can output on/off signals triggered by an illuminance level that can be set by the user. Outputs a lower value as the illuminance level increases, ie. outputs the maximum value when it's dark. Check the Light sensor for a wider field of view and larger illuminance detection range. Application examples

Use with SeeLaser-Red (red beam), SeeLaser-IR (invisible beam) or SeeIR (invisible beam, but for a distance less than 1 m) to create a break-beam that triggers when you cross it. Laserharp anyone ? Create a virtual cage for dancers. Or detect intruder, visitor, dog, cat, mouse .... movements.

The Advance-645 detects the distance of a person in a 50° cone.
Need pin-point distance detection ? The ReachFar and its digital, laser-accurate cousin ReachFarD detect distance up to 4 m within a cone of a few degrees. The ReachClose and its digital, laser-accurate cousin ReachCloseD do the same but up to 2 m.
Setup perimeters with break-beams made from a SeeLaser-Red or the invisible SeeLaser-IR (or any of our SeeLaser products) and a Flash, FlashOn or FlashDark.
Place TapTile, TapMatOn or TapStripOn sensors on the floor or stairs to detect a person stepping or standing on it, and even get a measure of the exerted force.
To know exactly who is present, use the ReachID and let each visitor be detected through their RFID tag.

Software support

Our SensePlay software is a very easy way to quickly map sensor data to (sequences of) sounds, images and videos using a drag & drop user interface.

Our EditorX software allows you to configure the digitizer to process and map the sensor data of multiple sensors simultaneously.

Application notes

To use the on/off output that can be set using the potentiometer on the sensor, the pin connected to the grey wire has to be moved to the slot where the white wire is. Lift the plastic lever in the housing to allow the pin to be pushed out and insert the other pin instead.

Use the invert processing method in EditorX to output a higher value when the illuminance level increases.

When using the sensor for detection of point light sources and proximity detection, remember that ambient light needs to be regulated so as not to interfere with the desired operation.
