newbie question!?

Post by Alex Alexanian »

hello-

I'm trying to make what I thought would be a very simple interactive
project using the icube x and a few contact closures. I just need a
signal to be returned when I touch two wires together. Whenever I
connect to a hack cable as soon as I touch a wire to the signal
connector I get this strange pulsing signal that feeds through to midi.
I have tried wiring in a resistor because I thought that the wire was
acting as an antennae with no luck... Can anyone tell me how to make a
simple contact with this system? What am I doing wrong?

-Thanks-

Alex

hi alex,
you don't mention how you wired that resistor,
try using a 2kOhm resistor between signal and ground (if I remember correclty,
it's been a while since I did this). It does not have to be exactly 2kOhm,
anywhere between 1.5 and 4 should help.
If that does not do it, there could be something else wrong with your setup
(?)
