unable to connect to digitizer

Hi, I'm having real problems connecting a microdig to my macbook pro running OS 10.5.6 via a Edirol UM-2EX MIDI-USB interface.
1. the microdig only flashes once on power on (in the out port)
2. After installing the Edirol drivers restarting etc. in the Mac 'Midi Devices' window when testing the device I can send a signal in (shown by grenn LED light in digitizer) but not receive a signal.
3. when testing the connection in the iCube editor I get a pop-up stating 'unable to connect to digitizer', I have tried all midi ports
4. Although I didn't receive a disk in the starter pack I have installed the driver 'Mac_OSX_VCP_Driver' from the website with no effect.

Can anyone suggest a next step I'm running out of ideas

I've been having the same problem with the microdig since November. After trying four different midi interfaces the tech team excepted that it was a software problem and I'm still waiting for an update/solution.
