20
Twenty - that's the magical number for us in 2015. Yes, it's been 20 years since I-CubeX was conceived. In the early winter months of 1995 first steps were taken to create the iCube System, as it was called then. An earlier version of the System with a couple of sensors included. It was officially launched shortly after the incorporation of Infusion Systems on 16 November 1995.

So, we're celebrating and want you to feel that too ! We're still working out various plans, but for starters we've re-examined prices across the board and added a 20% discount rate when purchasing in quantity 20. Makes sense, right ?

SensorX
For analog sensors, we've created SensorX, which allows you to calibrate the sensor data and map it to MIDI or OSC messages, view it in a plot and/or record it to a file for further analysis. Calibration information is included for the ReachClose, ReachFar, Touch, TouchMicro-03, TouchMicro-05, TouchMicro-10, TouchMini and TouchStrip sensors. We'll add calibration files for other sensors soon !

Missing DLLs
We recently discovered some issues with missing DLLs on Windows. This concerned the BlueMIDI app and the 64-bit version of our Max externals (iCube & oCube, iCalibrate, iFilter) and consequently all our applications built with these externals. We've posted new release packages (see our download page) that resolve these DLL issues.

Pd plugin
We're pleased to announce iCube for Pd v1.0. The Pd version of the iCube object is identical in functionality to iCube for Max v3.1. Pure data, abbreviated as Pd, is a graphical programming environment like Max, but it is open source and free, and runs on MacOS, Windows as well as Linux.

SensePlay
The SensePlay software is a quick and easy way to setup audio, video or slide shows controlled by gestures and other movements captured with I-CubeX sensors. Go to sense-play.com to see how the SensePlay software was used for an interactive advertising installation !

New cables, and the wearability of it all
Get more out your I-CubeX setup with these new cables: ExtendCable-1 (for most analog single output sensors), ExtendCable2D-1 (for digital I2C sensors), ExtendCable3D-1 (for eg. GForce3D-6 sensors), AuxCable (to connect an actuator to a USB-microDig when the input/output slot is used for a sensor) and Wi-USB-BatteryCable (to connect a USB-microBattery to a Wi-microDig).

And since last year we've got the USB-microMIDICable which allows you to send MIDI messages from a USB-microDig v7.1 that's programmed in standalone mode directly to MIDI gear. Power it with a USB-microGlobalAdapter, a USB-microBattery or simply a USB port on your computer.

Finally, we added Wearability, a convenient way to mount sensors and interfaces on your body.

MuscleTrainer and more software updates
Checkout our new MuscleTrainer software (for MacOS and Windows) for injury rehab and training using the BioVolt or BioFlex sensors.

There's a new version of the digitizer Max plugin, with many new features. The most notable feature being the ability to use multiple digitizer plugin instantiations with one physical digitizer (USB-microDig or Wi-microDig) so that multiple of our sensor-specific software applications can be used with one physical digitizer. Consequently, software for the BioBeat, BioEmo, BioFlex, BioVolt, BioWave, GForce3D-6, MoveAlong, MoveAround, Orient3D, ReachClose, ReachFar and TouchGlove were all updated and software for a new sensor, the Magnetic3D, was added.

We've released a new version of Connect for MacOS to represent multiple USB-microDigs and Wi-microDigs as virtual MIDI ports on your computer. In addition to receiving sensor data through virtual serial (COM) ports for which no separate software is needed, Connect allows you to easily get sensor data into any software program that can access MIDI ports. Use it with the updated Editor v3.35 for MacOS.

Recently we also released Editor v3.50, now with support for Windows 8 and more choice of virtual MIDI port drivers, and BlueMIDI v1.60. Just like Connect on MacOS, BlueMIDI on Windows can represent both USB-microDigs and Wi-microDigs on your computer as virtual MIDI ports.

Keep checking back here - more new software releases are coming soon !

I-CubeX in Theatre
We're at CITT in London, Canada to demonstrate how I-CubeX can be used in theatre. To those who were able to pass by our stand: thanks for your interest ! We're glad we had the opportunity to meet you - we hope to go to USITT next year.
