Tres a la vez explored multi-modal live performance as a contemporary art form, mixing choreographed and improvised dance and poetry with movement-controlled sound and visual effects in a theatrical setting. It was performed various times in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Two I-CubeX GForce2D-2 sensors were placed on the arms of one of the dancers, interfaced with a Wi-microDig to a computer running Max/MSP. The GDance software (custom designed by Axel Mulder of Infusion Systems) controlled ambient sound effects (reverb time, room size, volume) applied to pre-recorded samples, based on the angles of the sensors relative to the earth's gravitational field.
